I joined Ola Design team as an Product design Intern in summer 2019 for 3 months. During this course of time I worked closely with driver design, Product and Bussiness team. This was a great opportunity for me as, I got quite a good exposure of how a company manages customer as well as partner platform.
As the leading ride-hailing service in India, Ola employs over 800,000 driver-partners across the country. Ola is always on-boarding new driver-partners across tier 1, 2 and 3 cities to keep up with the ever-increasing, at-times seasonal, demand. So, they have to maintain this strength of their driver-partner for longer duration to give good service to their customer base.
Introduction
During the course of my internship I worked closely with Product managers, Business and tech people. I had a good exposure to how a company works and how it delivers products. Ola product has 2 verticals - Driver-partner side and Consumer side. I was a part of driver side mentored by Deepak Jose and Kavya.
Driver side system and users were bit complex so it took almost a week to me to understand the system. Soon after I got an overview I started working on ongoing project - Redesign of Accounting section of driver app with Kavya. I joined her on field research with drivers and attended various meetings with product managers. After some time I got a better understanding of system and I started working on Redesign of Accounting Section of Operator app and later on Incentive Model for drivers.
So, this was how the journey began!😃
Project 1. Redesign of Operator App
Ola is redesigning the experience of driver app and consequently Operator app also need changes. Since I had a good understanding of the system and drivers the project was assigned to me. I tried to understand a operator's need and modified the experience accordingly.

Project 2. Incentive Model for drivers
This was a concept project needed to make the demand meet with the supply of drivers. Which was also termed as
"Supply Shaping". But, drivers were also concerned about their monthly income which needed a model that can bridge the gap between the driver earnings and can fullfill the demand at all times. So, designed various incentive models that could satisfy the current need.
